How we're different We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills. The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences. Come work with us! Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues. About the team The Experimental Projects team quickly tests new product opportunities for Stripe. We work on brand-new, zero-to-one problems by building prototypes, talking with users, analyzing what we learn, and iterating rapidly. The team operates across a broad range of problem spaces. Rather than optimizing a single mature product area, you’ll help determine whether new ideas can solve meaningful user problems and become valuable products for Stripe. We’re looking for a Data Scientist who enjoys building, has a strong bias for action, and is comfortable moving from an ambiguous question to a practical test. Responsibilities - Use data to identify, evaluate, and shape new product opportunities. - Partner with engineers and product managers to build and test early product concepts. - Develop analyses, models, experiments, and prototypes that help the team learn quickly. - Talk with users and combine qualitative insights with quantitative evidence. - Define success measures for new ideas and assess whether early results support further investment. - Work across several new problem areas, adapting your approach as priorities and evidence change. - Communicate findings clearly, including uncertainty, tradeoffs, and recommended next steps. - Help establish analytical foundations for projects that may grow into larger product areas. What you'll do You’ll partner closely with product managers, engineers, designers, and other cross-functional partners to explore new product opportunities. Who you are We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement. Location Requirement - San Francisco, CA (Hybrid: 50% in office - Oyster Point) Minimum requirements - PhD with 3+ years, MS or MA with 6+ years, or BS or BA with 8+ years of data science or quantitative modeling experience. - Proficiency in SQL and a computing language such as Python or R. - Ability to effectively work both independently and with cross-disciplinary teams, including engineering and finance, to deliver impactful results. - A demonstrated ability to manage and deliver on multiple projects with a high attention to detail. - Solid business acumen and experience in synthesizing complex analyses into actionable recommendations. - A track record of building relationships with and influencing the decisions of senior technical leadership. - A builder's mindset with a willingness to question assumptions and conventional wisdom. - Proficiency with artificial intelligence tools to accelerate model development, analysis, and coding. Preferred qualifications - Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in several of the following areas: machine learning, statistics, optimization, product analytics, causal inference, and experimentation - Experience deploying models in production and adjusting model thresholds to improve performance - Experience designing, running, and analyzing complex experiments or using causal inference methods - A builder’s mindset and willingness to question assumptions and conventional wisdom - Experience working on ambiguous, zero-to-one problems and turning early evidence into practical decisions - A strong bias for action, including the ability to identify the fastest credible way to test a hypothesis - Comfort moving across different problem spaces and learning unfamiliar domains quickly - Experience with distributed tools such as Spark or Hadoop - A PhD or MS in a quantitative field, such as statistics, engineering, mathematics, economics, quantitative finance, science, or operations research

Editor
About the Team OpenAI didn’t begin as a traditional company. It began as an idea: that artificial intelligence could be developed in a way that benefits everyone. As a creative team, our role is to help make sure the work behind that idea is understood, as it leaves the lab and meets the world. This company works at the frontier of intelligence. Like any frontier, it’s unfinished, constantly shifting, and still being explored. Our job is to stay close to that uncertainty and help shape how this story gets told, in a way that feels grounded and human. We do this through campaigns, launches, films, brand systems, and work that doesn’t fit neatly into any of those categories yet. This team is for people who want to help shape something from the beginning. About the Role As Senior Editor, you will establish editorial and post-production as a centralized, end-to-end creative capability for OpenAI’s creative studio. You will personally edit high-priority work while building the global systems, standards, talent network, and production infrastructure that enable the studio to move fluidly from early idea to prototype to finished work. We’re looking for an exceptional editor who is also a builder. You will bring strong narrative instincts and finishing craft, but your influence will begin well before footage reaches the edit. You will work alongside creative, production, design, and product teams to shape concepts, test ideas, develop scripts, plan coverage, and identify the right form for each story. You will help create an editorial model that can support work across formats, markets, languages, and timelines—enabling teams to make quickly when speed matters and scale thoughtfully when the ambition requires it. Over time, you will develop the people, partnerships, tools, and operating practices needed to make editorial and post-production a durable global capability. This role is based in Remote Los Angeles, with periodic travel to other OpenAI offices. In this role, you will: - Edit high-priority films and content, bringing exceptional judgment across story, structure, pacing, performance, emotion, sound, music, graphics, and finishing. - Help teams move from concept to prototype quickly, using editorial as a creative development tool to explore ideas, test narrative approaches, and make possibilities tangible before or during production. - Partner with creative teams from the earliest stages of development to shape concepts, treatments, scripts, story architecture, coverage plans, production approaches, and the role of post. - Build an end-to-end editorial capability spanning creative development, rapid prototyping, production support, offline editing, motion and graphics, sound, color, finishing, localization, versioning, and final delivery. - Define global editorial and post-production standards, including workflows, technical specifications, review practices, media management, asset organization, archival systems, security protocols, and delivery requirements. - Design systems that allow work to move efficiently across internal teams and external partners while preserving creative intent, quality, security, and clear ownership. - Develop approaches for global adaptation and localization that maintain the meaning, tone, and emotional integrity of the work across languages, formats, platforms, and cultural contexts. - Build and manage a trusted global network of editors, assistant editors, producers, motion designers, sound partners, composers, colorists, VFX artists, finishing specialists, and other post-production talent. - Match projects with the right editorial talent and production model, balancing creative ambition, subject-matter expertise, location, cultural fluency, speed, and budget. - Create thoughtful ways for internal creatives and external collaborators to work together, including briefing, onboarding, review, feedback, and knowledge-sharing practices. - Evaluate and introduce tools—including emerging AI-enabled creative tools—that expand how the studio can prototype, edit, version, localize, and make work while protecting creative quality and judgment. - Plan the future shape and capacity of the editorial function, including hiring, onboarding, mentoring, resource planning, and eventually managing additional editorial and post-production support. - Raise the creative bar across the studio by sharing editorial thinking, teaching teams how to plan for post, and helping collaborators make stronger narrative decisions throughout the creative process. You might thrive in this role if you: - Have 10+ years as an accomplished editor with a portfolio of exceptional narrative, commercial, documentary, social, product, or brand work. - Bring excellent story instincts and can find clarity, humanity, and emotional shape in complex, technical, ambiguous, or incomplete material. - See editing as more than a finishing step: you use it to think, discover, prototype, and shape the work from the beginning. - Understand the full post-production lifecycle, including media management, offline and online workflows, motion and graphics, sound, music, color, VFX, finishing, localization, versioning, archival, and delivery. - Have experience building editorial operations or leading complex post-production across multiple teams, partners, markets, or regions. - Know how to identify exceptional creative talent, build trusted relationships, and assemble the right team around a project. - Can create scalable global systems without losing the flexibility, local nuance, experimentation, and judgment that great creative work requires. - Are curious about new creative technologies and thoughtful about where they can meaningfully improve the process—not simply accelerate it. - Are comfortable moving between detailed hands-on craft and broader questions of talent, tooling, operations, and organizational design. - Collaborate generously, communicate clearly, synthesize feedback well, and remain calm and decisive under deadline pressure. - Want to help build a modern creative studio capable of imagining, prototyping, making, and delivering meaningful work from end to end. Creative Operations Lead, Business Marketing
About the Team Business Marketing helps organizations understand and put OpenAI’s products to work. Our creative team brings that story to life across campaigns, launches, and everyday marketing experiences. We work closely with marketing partners to make ambitious, thoughtful creative work that connects with business audiences. About the Role We’re looking for a Creative Operations Lead who knows how to get exceptional creative work made at extraordinary speed and scale. Reporting to the Head of Creative, Business you will run creative resourcing, budget management, and studio operations across our internal team, contractors, and agencies; balancing ongoing campaigns with rapidly emerging launches and requests. You’ll turn ambitious briefs and tight timelines into achievable production plans, match work to the right talent, and keep multiple teams moving without sacrificing craft or quality. This requires inventive resource management: knowing when to add capacity, batch work, reuse assets, adjust scope, or enable marketers to self-serve. AI is essential to making this possible. You’ll be a hands-on builder who works with creatives, producers, and S&O to improve briefing, accelerate production, and remove repetitive work. Your success will show up in the volume and quality of work the studio delivers, the clarity teams have, and how effectively you use their time. This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees. In this role, you will: - Own creative resourcing and studio operations across internal teams, contractors, and agencies, matching the right skills and capacity to each project. - Build and run practical capacity planning and staffing systems that balance durable campaign work with fast-moving launches and new requests. - Partner with Strategy & Operations as briefs take shape to assess creative effort, dependencies, and readiness, then translate priorities into clear staffing and production plans. - Find inventive solutions to tight resource constraints: adjust scope, add specialist capacity, sequence or batch work, and identify opportunities to reuse assets or enable self-service. - Partner with producers to keep delivery moving, anticipate bottlenecks, and resolve staffing, review, and handoff issues before they put quality or timelines at risk. - Manage agency capacity and assignments with creative leadership and producers, setting clear expectations for scope, timing, costs, and quality. - Manage the studio’s creative resourcing budget within agreed funding, balancing agency fees, contractor spend, and internal capacity. Forecast costs and commitments, surface risks early, and recommend changes to the resource mix or scope in partnership with Business Operations. - Protect creative focus and craft by matching production investment to the work and making tradeoffs clear to partners. - Build and continually improve AI-enabled tools and workflows that make briefing, production, adaptation, and self-service faster and more effective, with appropriate creative review. - Use delivery data and team feedback to improve throughput, reduce rework, and make the studio’s pace more sustainable. You might thrive in this role if you: - Have 10+ years of experience personally owning creative operations, resourcing, or integrated production across multiple disciplines and concurrent programs. - Have a strong understanding of design, copy, motion, video, and web production, including the skills, dependencies, and review cycles behind an initial request. - Have a track record of designing and running staffing, capacity planning, and intake systems that teams trust and use in fast-paced environments. - Have sound judgment about when work belongs in-house, with contractors or agencies, or in a self-service model—and how to balance speed, cost, and craft. - Have experience managing agency and contractor relationships, creative budgets, and commercial tradeoffs—including agency fee models and contractor rates—and finding resourceful solutions when demand exceeds capacity. - Have hands-on experience building and implementing AI-enabled workflows, with evidence of improvements in production speed, capacity, or quality. You understand where automation helps and where creative judgment is essential. - Have the ability to build trust with creative leaders, producers, and marketers, communicate tradeoffs directly, and keep people aligned as priorities change. - Possess high ownership, composure, and flexibility in ambiguous environments, with a bias toward solving problems and improving how the team works. Software Engineer, Compute Foundations
ABOUT THE TEAM Compute Foundations builds the software that manages OpenAI’s GPU compute infrastructure across sites, data centers, and infrastructure providers, supporting model training and inference. Our systems turn large, heterogeneous fleets of machines into dependable compute for research and products. We build Kubernetes-based control planes, controllers, services, and APIs that coordinate the lifecycle of machines and clusters. We connect global infrastructure management with the realities of bare-metal systems, giving clients consistent interfaces across differences in hardware, topology, and provider behavior. ABOUT THE ROLE You will build distributed systems that provision, configure, and manage compute throughout its lifecycle. Your work will connect global services and Kubernetes controllers with the systems that bring machines online, update them safely, and recover them when something goes wrong. This role combines software architecture with an understanding of how machines and data centers work. You might design a lifecycle API, improve controller performance under high concurrency and provider rate limits, or trace a provisioning failure from an API through reconciliation to network boot or host configuration. You will help these systems remain reliable as the fleet expands across sites and generations of GPU hardware. We value depth in relevant systems and the ability to connect layers. You do not need to arrive as an expert in every component of the stack. IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL: - Design, build, and operate Kubernetes-based controllers and distributed services that coordinate infrastructure across sites, isolate failures, and scale as GPU capacity grows. - Define APIs and resource models that let clients request and track lifecycle operations through consistent interfaces across hardware platforms and providers. - Build provisioning and configuration services that coordinate network boot, hardware management interfaces, and the deployment of firmware, operating-system images, drivers, and host configuration. - Develop lifecycle management for discovery, allocation, provisioning, upgrades, maintenance, recovery, and decommissioning, integrating with health and validation systems. - Design reliable reconciliation and recovery through concurrent changes, interrupted operations, and partial failures, with staged rollouts that limit disruption across nodes, racks, and clusters. - Improve control-plane throughput, API latency, and the time infrastructure takes to reach its desired state, while respecting the limits of site systems and provider APIs. - Build the software integrations that bring new sites and GPU hardware generations into the platform, partnering with hardware, networking, data-center, and other infrastructure teams. YOU MIGHT THRIVE IN THIS ROLE IF YOU: - Have strong software engineering fundamentals and experience designing, implementing, and owning production distributed systems or infrastructure services. - Have experience developing infrastructure systems that use Kubernetes APIs and reconciliation to manage resources. - Understand how a bare-metal node moves from power-on to a configured, workload-ready system, with depth in one or more areas such as PXE, DHCP/DNS, baseboard management controllers (BMCs), firmware, Linux, drivers, images, or configuration management. - Can design reliable APIs and asynchronous workflows, reasoning about concurrency, consistency, idempotency, and failures across service and provider boundaries. - Can diagnose reliability and performance problems across service, operating-system, and machine boundaries, turning production evidence into lasting software improvements. - Work effectively across engineering specialties and communicate system behavior and technical tradeoffs clearly. BONUS POINTS IF YOU: - Have built infrastructure control planes that coordinate operations across multiple sites or regions. - Have worked with GPU or HPC infrastructure, including topology and shared dependencies across machines, racks, or clusters. - Have integrated multiple hardware platforms or infrastructure providers into a common service or resource model. Copywriter, Developer
About Anthropic Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems. About the role As a Copywriter, Developer at Anthropic, you will shape how our brand speaks to developers, an audience that is notoriously allergic to being marketed to and quick to spot anything that doesn't ring true. Developers who stay sharp, curious, and direct AI tools with their own judgment are the ones who will thrive, and your job is to help that idea land authentically rather than arrive as a slogan. You'll co-create a voice that developers recognize as empathetic, direct, and genuinely useful, and you'll bring that voice to every place our brand meets a developer. In this role, you'll own the brand-led developer writing that sits between Dev Rel's technical content and pure marketing: launch narratives, campaign work, social, paid, event materials, and developer work that shows up in enterprise contexts. You'll partner closely with Dev Rel as an embedded extension of their team, co-own the developer voice and tone guide with Comms, work with Claude Code and developer marketing leadership on strategic initiatives, and sit within a developer creative pod alongside a brand designer and program manager, with our Head of Copy and Content as your craft lead. Responsibilities - Own the developer-facing expression of brand campaigns, starting with Keep Thinking, translating brand-level ideas into writing that works across launches, social, and paid - Build the developer voice and tone guide in partnership with Comms and Dev Rel, then turn it into the templates and examples the creative team uses for developer work - Own the brand-led developer assets that sit between technical content and marketing, from event and campaign materials to developer writing in enterprise contexts - Partner daily with Dev Rel as an embedded extension of their team, complementing the technical content they own rather than duplicating it - Develop launch narratives and short-form copy that adapt expert, technical material into sharp, accurate writing developers trust - Lead copy for the developer creative pod, working side by side with brand design and program management to ship integrated work - Partner with Claude Code leadership and developer marketing leadership on strategic initiatives that shape how we show up for developers - Present work and a clear rationale for voice and craft decisions to stakeholders across Brand, Dev Rel, Comms, and marketing - Manage feedback from technical reviewers and Comms so that what ships is both accurate and within what we can say externally - Track how developer-facing work lands and use what you learn to sharpen the voice, the templates, and the work itself You may be a good fit if you - Have 8+ years experience writing for developers or technical audiences, and a portfolio that shows both technical and brand work - Have shipped work that developers actually shared, whether in-house at a developer tools or infrastructure company or at an agency serving those clients - Have a strong, specific point of view on how brands should talk to developers, and can articulate it with examples - Can read a changelog or a docs page and explain why a developer would or wouldn't trust it - Are skilled at adapting expert material into sharp short-form copy and launch narratives without losing accuracy - Work fluidly across the full range from technical content to pure brand writing - Already use Claude or other AI models in your own writing practice and can talk concretely about how - Enjoy embedding with technical teams and treating engineers and Dev Rel as creative partners, not just reviewers - Are comfortable co-owning standards with other teams and knowing where your lane ends and theirs begins - Are excited about Anthropic's mission to develop AI that is safe and beneficial Strong candidates may also have - Experience working directly alongside a Dev Rel or engineering team rather than through a brief - Built or contributed to a voice and tone guide, style system, or writing templates that other people successfully used - Written for developer launches at a fast-moving product company, where accuracy and speed both mattered - Familiarity with the AI developer ecosystem, including coding tools, APIs, and how developers evaluate them - Experience writing developer-credible work that also performs in enterprise or executive contexts - A personal writing practice, newsletter, or public work that demonstrates voice and judgment - Worked within brand campaign systems and translated them for a skeptical or specialized audience The annual compensation range for this role is listed below. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. Account Manager
ABOUT US: AI NEEDS A NEW INFRASTRUCTURE LAYER. WE'RE BUILDING IT AT MODAL. Every era of computing brought new workloads that previous infrastructure couldn't support: mainframes, databases, and the cloud. Each time, the company that rebuilt the layer underneath defined the decade. AI is no different, except it touches everything instead of one slice, and the window to build the layer underneath it is open right now. Our customers include category-defining companies like Lovable https://modal.com/blog/lovable-case-study, Ramp https://modal.com/blog/how-ramp-built-a-full-context-background-coding-agent-on-modal, Cognition, DoorDash, and Suno. They rely on Modal for instant GPU access, sub-second container starts, and native storage, so it's simple to serve low-latency inference, fine-tune models, and access production-ready sandboxes at scale. We recently raised a $355M Series C https://modal.com/blog/modal-series-c at a $4.65B valuation, led by General Catalyst and Redpoint Ventures. We've crossed $300M+ ARR and grown fivefold since September. Our team includes creators of popular open-source projects (e.g., Seaborn https://github.com/mwaskom/seaborn, Luigi https://github.com/spotify/luigi), academic researchers, international olympiad medalists, and experienced engineering and product leaders ABOUT THE ROLE We're hiring the first Account Managers at Modal. You'll report to the Regional Director of Account Management and be a founding member of the team. This function does not exist yet. There is no playbook, no territory map, no established motion. You'll own a book of business from day one and build the motion at the same time — from fast-moving AI startups to large enterprise teams running critical infrastructure on Modal. This is a commercial role with a revenue target. You'll be measured on retention and expansion across your accounts. While you won't be delivering the technical recommendations and implementation, the work is technical by nature. Our customers are engineers running GPU workloads, inference, and batch jobs in production, and you need to hold your own in those conversations. The profile we're hiring is a technical account manager. You've worked at companies that are deeply technical and consumption in nature. You bring the commercial instincts to grow revenue from an existing base and enough technical depth to know which conversation actually matters. And you can credibly work with a CxO all the way down to a Developer. WHAT THE ROLE IS - A founding seat. You're helping build the AM function with us, not joining one that already runs. The account plans, expansion motions, and customer cadence you and the rest of the founding team figure out are what we scale to every AM we hire after you. - A technical customer-facing role. You'll work directly with Developers and ML teams on what they're building and how Modal fits. You translate and triage the deeper technical work to FDEs and Product when it's needed. - A book of business. You’ll own a set of accounts and be responsible for the revenue that comes from them. Expect to be meeting with customers in your first few days because the best playbooks are built from real experiences. WHAT THE ROLE IS NOT - A traditional post-sales role. You're measured on revenue, not health scores. - An on-call support function. You're not fixing bugs or triaging tickets. You're driving growth. - A technical delivery role. You're not implementing for the customer. You know where the technical work goes and you pull in the right people. - An inherited motion. Nothing is handed to you. If you identify gaps in process, tooling, or a playbook — you help build it. - A single-lane job. Our priorities go customer → company → team → me. We focus on delivering maximum impact vs. "this is my job". WHAT YOU'LL ACHIEVE - Build Modal's account management function and iterate on it as we scale the business - Own and deliver on a revenue target across your book of accounts - Grow an account's first use case, expand into a second, and drive standardization across the Modal platform - Get fluent enough in Modal to hold your own with engineering teams on their workloads, and know when to pull in FDEs, Support, or Product - Work with Sales, Solutions Architects, FDEs, Support, and Product to grow accounts and feed customer signal back into the roadmap - Travel to customers as needed to support key accounts and drive expansion opportunities WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BRING - Customer-facing experience. You've owned a revenue target or supported a revenue target in a highly technical, consumption business. - Technical depth. You work autonomously with Developers through CxOs and understand the core parts of the developer tech stack. - AI builder. You're hands on building with AI tools — not just consuming workflows that were built for you. - Ownership. You run your book of business and projects like you're the CEO of it. You're highly organized bringing stability, predictability, and pace to your work. You take action vs. waiting for direction. - Learning velocity. You operate with the mindset of what I can do today vs. let me pick this up tomorrow. You move fast, take the learnings, and iterate on it. - Cross-functional partner. Low ego, easy to work with, and highly accountable. You ask for feedback, you act on it, and you'd rather be corrected early than right late. Internal teams love working with you. NICE TO HAVES - Experience as a Technical Account Manager, Solutions Engineer, Solutions Consultant, or similar type role - Certification as an engineer (ex. Computer Science Degree, Professional Bootcamps) - Early GTM hire experience at a fast-growing startup - You've sat close to GPU spend, model training, or inference workloads

Software Engineer, Tokens and Prompt Structures
About Anthropic Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems. About the Role: The Encodings Infra team maintains the libraries that engineers and researchers across Anthropic use to encode text and multimodal data into a form that Claude can consume. It also determines Claude’s prompt shape: how a user’s turn is represented to the model, how Claude calls tools and receives tool results, and so on. As a Software Engineer on this team, you'll own the design and maintenance of these libraries—keeping their APIs intuitive, their performance sharp, and their abstractions solid enough that most of the org never has to think about encodings or prompt structures at all. You’ll have the satisfaction of knowing that your work enabled Claude to learn new ways of understanding the world. This role is unusually broad: your work will touch systems across the codebase, from pretraining to finetuning to the API, and you'll collaborate closely with both researchers and engineers to make sure new encoding ideas can move quickly from experiment to production. Responsibilities: - Maintain and improve the encoding libraries used by engineers and researchers across Anthropic - Run experiments to determine the optimal way to feed structured data into Claude without confusing it - Design data structures and abstractions that shield most of the organization from the details of how encoded data works while enabling “power users” - Adapt the encoding libraries to support new research directions as they emerge, and make sure that we can ship these research ideas to production - Optimize encoding performance across the systems that depend on these libraries You may be a good fit if you: - Have 5+ years of software engineering experience, with meaningful time spent maintaining libraries, SDKs, or developer-facing APIs - Have familiarity with ML terminology and LLM architecture — you don't need to be an ML expert, but enough understanding to work effectively alongside researchers and understand the results of experiments - Have experience carrying out complex refactors in large codebases - Have strong communication skills and enjoy working closely with researchers and engineers to understand what they need - Are results-oriented, with a bias towards flexibility and impact - Pick up slack, even if it goes outside your job description - Care about the societal impacts of your work Strong candidates may also have experience with: - Tokenizers or other text/data encoding systems - Maintaining a widely-used library over a long period of time - Performance optimization - Python and/or Rust - Reinforcement learning or model training infrastructure Representative projects: - Working with a research team to ship a new multimodal data type (audio, video, etc) to production - Redesigning a core abstraction so that we can change how data is encoded into Claude without breaking downstream teams The annual compensation range for this role is listed below. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. Annual Salary: $320,000 - $405,000 USD Logistics Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience Required field of study: A field relevant to the role as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience Minimum years of experience: Years of experience required will correlate with the internal job level requirements for the position Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. Inference Engineering and Product Lead
The role calls for strong architectural judgment, executive presence, partner leadership, and the ability to move confidently between business strategy and hands-on technical conversations. At Affirm, we exist for the moments that matter—giving people a clear, predictable way to pay over time, with no hidden fees, no surprises, and no tradeoffs on what matters most. The InfoSec team protects Affirm’s systems and data from evolving threats. We manage security risk, monitor vulnerabilities, and enforce protective controls across the company. The team leads incident response, compliance, identity and access management, and employee training. Our goal is to ensure that security is built into every system and decision at Affirm. We maintain a secure, trustworthy environment so the business can operate and grow with confidence. In this role, you'll build and run Affirm's end-to-end security review process for enterprise AI/LLM systems evaluating architecture, prioritizing AI-specific risks, and designing the controls and guardrails that let Affirm adopt AI safely, partnering across Security, Legal, Privacy, Compliance, IT, and Engineering to make it scalable and repeatable. What you’ll do - You will lead and continuously improve Affirm's enterprise AI security review process evaluating the architecture, data flows, permissions, and design of internal AI tools, agentic/MCP-based systems, and AI features — and embed security requirements into the design phase. - You will threat model AI/LLM-based systems and their data flows for risks such as prompt injection, insecure output handling, excessive agency, tool-permission abuse, data poisoning, and sensitive-data exposure, and drive remediation. - You will review source code, system prompts, agent configurations, and tool/permission manifests (e.g., MCP definitions), and help tool owners build security-focused test cases and red-team/eval scenarios to verify requirements before launch. - You will design and build security guardrails and tooling for AI systems permission boundaries, authn/authz for agentic tools and MCP servers, data-handling controls, logging/monitoring, and policy-as-code (Python, IaC) — to enforce and automate AI security. - You will evaluate the AI capabilities of third-party SaaS vendors (e.g., Notion, Slack, Google Workspace) as part of vendor and SaaS security reviews and drive risk-based adoption decisions. - You will identify emerging classes of AI/agentic security vulnerabilities, develop mitigations before they become incidents, and contribute to AI-specific incident response playbooks as a senior escalation point. - You will lead cross-functional AI security initiatives to closure, advise technical and executive stakeholders as an internal point of expertise, and stay current on the AI security landscape (OWASP LLM Top 10, MITRE ATLAS) to translate new research into practical controls. What we look for - You are a seasoned security engineer with hands-on experience designing, evaluating, and maintaining security architecture for AI/LLM-based systems, plus deep expertise in enterprise security systems, processes, and controls. - You have practical experience threat modeling and reviewing AI/LLM applications (e.g., against the OWASP Top 10 for LLM Applications) and securing agentic systems and tool-calling frameworks — MCP servers/clients, tool-permission models, and agent-to-tool trust boundaries. - You have built AI governance artifacts (acceptable use policy, data-handling standards, vendor/model risk assessments) and evaluated AI capabilities within SaaS platforms (e.g., Notion AI, Slack AI, Google Workspace AI, GitHub Copilot) as part of vendor reviews. - You have experience with enterprise tools for AI visibility and control (e.g., CASB, IDP/Okta) and familiarity with the corporate systems where AI is adopted (OpenAI, Anthropic, GitHub, Google Workspace, Slack, Notion, Jira). - You can build security tooling, guardrails, and detections with Python or similar, and deploy cloud services and policy-as-code using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or similar); familiarity with Kubernetes and AWS. - You understand how LLMs and agentic systems are built (RAG, embeddings, fine-tuning, tool use) and authn/authz models (OAuth2, SAML, service-account/non-human identities) for agentic and machine-to-machine access, with strong application-architecture and threat-modeling fundamentals. - You can lead cross-functional initiatives across Security, Engineering, Legal, Privacy, and Compliance and drive them to closure, and communicate effectively with technical and executive audiences. Software Engineer, Research Tools
Our mission is to automate coding. The first step in our journey is to build the best tool for professional programmers, using a combination of inventive research, design, and engineering. Our organization is very flat, and our team is small and talent dense. We particularly like people who are truth-seeking, passionate, and creative. We enjoy spirited debate, crazy ideas, and shipping code. ABOUT THE ROLE As a Software Engineer on the RL Data team, you’ll design and build the tools that researchers and external contributors use to create, review, submit, and monitor the environments and tasks behind Cursor’s reinforcement-learning runs. This is a full-stack product-engineering role embedded in a research team. You’ll own the review and acceptance experience end to end: from rollout and transcript inspection, task-quality signals grader and reward-hacking analysis, to the workflows that move a submission into training. From there, you’ll build authoring interfaces that let researchers, vendors, and domain experts create and improve environments and tasks quickly and confidently. Your work will significantly shorten the loop from a task idea or data sources, to candidate task, to trusted training data. WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON - Create fast, trustworthy workflows for vendors and research team to interact effectively with each other — vendor task creation and iteration, vendor submissions, and task acceptance into training. - Build review tools for inspecting and comparing rollouts, transcripts, grader outputs, and other signals of task quality. - Develop environment-health, failure-search, versioning, and catalog experiences that make training data easy to understand, manage, and extend. - Establish a shared component kit, then use it to build self-serve interfaces for creating and improving tasks with quality checks inline. YOU MAY BE A FIT IF - You’ve shipped full-stack products and owned systems from user interface through storage or services, using technologies such as TypeScript and React alongside Node, Python, or Go. - You’ve built dense, data-facing tools such as transcript viewers, diffing systems, review queues, observability products, or operational dashboards—and you have strong opinions about how structured data should be rendered. - You’ve built or maintained a design system or component library and can establish durable product and engineering conventions for a fast-moving team. - You’ve designed review, QA, moderation, fraud, or acceptance workflows where users had an incentive to get past the checks, and you know how to keep those systems honest. - You care about data quality, and are willing to inspect raw data. Experience with evaluations, graders, reinforcement learning, or data-quality systems is helpful but not required. - You move quickly under ambiguity, collaborate closely with researchers and domain experts, and take open-ended problems from rough need to reliable product. APPLYING If there appears to be a fit, we’ll schedule two or three short technical interviews focused on frontend craft for dense data and system design for a review-and-acceptance workflow. After that, we’ll invite you onsite to work on a small project using real rollouts, discuss ideas, and meet the team. #LI-DNI

Staff Product Security Engineer
Experience in regulated environments (SOC 2, PCI DSS) and applying IAM to non-human/agent identities is a plus.
